Daily Mirror Bespoke Advertising

I created various commercial advertorial campaigns, working with many household brand names and The Daily Mirror editorial team. All advertorial briefs were unique and created on a client-by-client basis. All campaigns were creatively designed to combine the Daily Mirror’s look, feel, and tone with the clients’ branding and messages. I would work with editors, brief photographers, printers, project managers and clients to produce the final product.
A few of my favourites are featured below:

The John Smith’s People’s Race was an exciting 4 page advertorial campaign at the Daily Mirror. Not only was this my first 4 page advertorial, but this unique opportunity also gave me a chance to creatively design for a subject I was personally passionate about. The campaign gave fearless readers the chance to be a jockey for the day at the Grand National and was a hugely popular campaign for the Daily Mirror’s racing fans!

In collaboration with Tesco, I created the newspapers first ever scented advertorial. The yellow ink was scented with a hot cross bun smell. I worked closely with the printers to achieve the correct ratio of yellow ink, as well as Tesco for amends and sign off. There was no escaping the smell of hot cross buns!

Oral-B campaign to promote all things dental hygiene. The content was full of expert advice on keeping Britain’s pearly whites clean and sparkly. The look an feel was designed to be as close to the Daily Mirror brand as possible, therefore I needed to work closely with the editorial team for their sign off, as well as the clients. We even created a unique masthead for the campaign, something which had not previously been agreed before!

I creatively designed bespoke display adverts for Setanta Sports promoting the weekend’s football games. These are repeated weekly. Setanta required an energetic, punchy approach to their small horizontal adverts, as they featured within the busy sports section of the newspaper. With access to The Mirror’s library of editorial player pics, the rest was up to me! Don’t ask me what the scores were!

Various assets were creatively artworked according to brand guidelines for the prestigious Daily Mirror, Pride of Britain Awards. I helped create a variety of assets needed to promote the event, these included banners, shop displays, invites and any other stationery required.
